TNBC was planted in the spring of 2016 by the authority of Badger Road Baptist Church, located in North Pole, Alaska. The charter members began meeting together in the North Pole Grange while searching for a permanent location.
In 2017 TNBC was blessed with a property located at 3555 Laurance Road near the Richardson Highway. By God's grace, the Church continued to grow as its ministry impact expanded throughout the community.
In 2023 TNBC was blessed with the purchase of a larger property at 3391 Old Richardson Highway in Moose Creek, near Eielson Air Force Base. TNBC continues to rely on God's guidance, provision, and enablement for all of its growth and ministry.
"But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him." (1 Corinthians 12:18)
TNBC's ministry carefully follows the New Testament pattern established for all of the Lord's local churches. Active evangelism, discipleship, leader development, and missions are staples in the church's mission, purpose, and activities.

TNBC's ministry carefully follows the New Testament pattern established for all of the Lord's local churches. Active evangelism, discipleship, leader development, and missions are staples in the church's mission, purpose, and activities.
The goals of TNBC are to equip its members to saturate the community and the world with the good news of Jesus Christ and to lead believers in Christ to full maturity and productivity in Christ's kingdom.
TNBC prepares believers for evangelism and all other facets of ministry through expository preaching, small group discipleship, hands-on training, strong personal accountability, and one-on-one mentorship. The church is focused on the growth and contribution of all church members, both young and old; thus TNBC enjoys family-integrated church services. All members engage in small group discipleship on Sunday afternoons and also meet regularly throughout the week.
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12)

Pastor Phil McBroom is a longtime resident of the North Pole area and was called to the ministry when he was 16 years old. He began preparation and training for preaching and teaching while still in his teens, married his high school sweetheart, and begin to serve as a full-time staff member at a local Baptist church in North Pole.
During this time, he developed and led a campus ministry at the University of Alaska Fairbanks known as Nanooks for Christ; a Police Chaplain ministry at Fairbanks Police Department; an outreach at the Fairbanks Rescue Mission; a ministry at the Fairbanks Pioneer Home; and other evangelistic ministries throughout the Fairbanks and North Pole areas.
Pastor McBroom earned Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity degrees from Great Plains Baptist College and Divinity School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He continued to serve on staff for 6 1/2 years before God led him into a full-time ministry as a United States Army Chaplain.
Pastor McBroom served on Active Duty as an Army Chaplain at several locations throughout the United States, Afghanistan, and Korea. While in Korea, he focused on discipleship and leadership development ministry, leading a robust outreach to single Soldiers and the local Korean populace.
In 2015, the Lord led Pastor McBroom and his family back to North Pole, Alaska to serve in planting a new church with a deliberate focus toward ministry in military and first responder communities. He heavily invests in evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, and writing ministry. His greatest desire is to glorify God through reaching souls for Christ and equipping God’s saints for the work of the ministry.
Pastor McBroom continues to serve as an Army Reserve Chaplain, ministering to Soldiers and Airmen at local installations. He currently serves in the 11th Airborne Division staff at Fort Wainwright, bringing the church’s ministry into the lives of Soldiers and their families.
The Lord has greatly blessed the McBroom family with five children. Both Pastor and Mrs. McBroom are tremendously honored by the opportunity to devote their lives in service to the Lord Jesus Christ through True North Baptist Church.
